Last night the varsity tennis team took on their first league match against Riverview Gabriel Richard sweeping all courts in straight sets to win 8-0. Starting at 1 singles, Maddie Demura won 6-4, 6-1 with her dominating serve. At 2 singles Amelia Morgulec played a controlled game coming to the net for point ending volleys to win 6-2, 6-3. At 3 singles Bridget Gilbert was serving up bagels winning 6-0, 6-0. Finally filling in at 4 singles last minute Jasmine Flood put forth maximum effort to win 6-2, 6-2. In doubles action the 1 doubles team of Elysia Youkhanna and Kennedy Cerne had strong net play and great movement on the court to win 6-2, 6-4. At 2 doubles Sophia Kozadinos and Grace Leong won 6-3, 6-4 with great communication and strong volleys. Rachel Pryjma and Leah McCulloch played hard points to win 6-4, 6-2 at 3 doubles. Finally the 4 doubles team of Charlotte Grems and Sophia Moceri were aggressive at net to take the win 6-3, 6-1. Great Job ladies.

Foley tennis defeated Liggett 5-3. Despite a strong singles lineup Foley was able to win all doubles and 4 singles in close matches. 4 singles Aly Kelley was able to fight back from a set down to win the second set and match tiebreaker to secure the team win. One doubles Kennedy Cerne and Elysia Youkhanna dominated, winning 6-3, 6-2. At 2 doubles Grace Leong and Sophia Kozadinos battled through a first set win, second set loss but pulled it out in the match tiebreaker with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 14-12. Three doubles Leah McColluch and Rachel Pryma dominating in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 and at 4 doubles Sophia Moceri and Charlotte Grems pulled off a win in another close match tiebreaker with a score 6-3, 4-6, 11-9. In the 5th doubles match Emmerson Arakelilan and Jasmine Flood won their pro set dropping only one game (8-1). Congratulations on the win.

Foley varsity tennis played a tough match against Shrine yesterday losing 3-5. Maddie Demura had a dominating win at 1 singles winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. 2 singles Ameila Morgulec, 3 singles Bridget Gilbert and 4 singles Charlotte Grems all played hard but fell to shrine at 2, 3 and 4 singles respectively. In doubles action, 1 doubles Elysia Youhanna and sub Jasmine Flood fought hard but fell to the Shrine team 3 -6, 2-6. 2 Doubles Grace Leong and Sophia Kozadinos got off to a slow start but improved throughout the match, making is a close second set losing 0-6, 5-7. 3 doubles Rachel Pryjma and Leah McCulloch had a close first set and dominated the second to win 7-5, 6-1. 4 doubles Aly Kelley and Sophia Moceri played hard to win 6-4, 6-2. At 5 doubles Abby Krawczak and Emmerson Arakelian won their set 8-5. Congratulations on a great match ladies.

Varsity tennis took on a very strong St Catherine team Thursday 4/3. Despite good points and close games at all courts the ventures fell 1-7. They will be playing in their first league division match Tuesday 4/8 at home against Jewish Academy.

The varsity tennis team tied Divine Child 4-4 at their opening tennis match yesterday. Every match was very close with several tiebreakers played. 1 doubles Elysia Youkhanna and Kennedy cerne played hard losing in a close third set tiebreaker. Aly Kelly and Sophia Moceri won their match taking the first set in a tiebreaker but dominating the second set at 4 doubles, 3 Doubles Leah McCulloch and Rachel Pryjma won both sets in close tiebreaker, and 2 Doubles Sophia Kozadinos and Grace Leong won in straight sets. Finally in a hard fought two and a half hour match Bridget Gilbert persevered through two tough sets, both going to a tiebreaker and a third set tiebreaker to win the match and get the tie. Congratulations – they play again3/28/25 at Regina at 4pm.
