Gate Fee's
Parents, please be aware that admission fees for the 2024-25 academic year have increased due to new pricing set by the Catholic High School League. The league-wide admission price is now $10 cash at the gate, driven by rising referee fees, which have increased by up to 80% in some cases. This pricing is mandated by the league, and BFC does not control these gate prices. However, attendees can pay a discounted rate of $8 by purchasing tickets in advance at Gofan.co. For families with multi-season athletes, purchasing an Athletic Pass may be a significant cost-saver, as it bypasses the by-event gate fee. To learn more about the Athletic Pass, please see the information below or contact Mike Maltese at maltese@bishopfoley.org. We appreciate your understanding and continued support of Venture Athletics. Thank you for cheering on our student-athletes!

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyFoley’s Game Against Kenowa Hills Was Like Two Games in OneBy Jim Mickciewicz January 11, 2025 Page 1 of 2.Grand Rapids, Michigan Foley United has yet to play a game this season with a complete bench. The team was short two skaters due to injury for the Grand Rapids trip, and a third was added to the list serving a DQ for the Kenowa Hills game. But Foley has always played through. The Kenowa Hills game looked like two games in one. Kenowa Hills won the game 7 – 1, but the play in the first period was even. Foley had ten shots on goal and Kenowa Hills had twelve. Foley’s Derek Townsend scored for Foley with the assists going to Caesar Soma, and Derek’s brother Vincent. Kenowa Hills netted two goals. It was a fast, competitive period of hockey. It also saw two more Foley skaters go down with potential concussions in the period. Those players did not return to the game. The bench now was down to nine skaters and two goalies. The fatigue for those Foley pl

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyFoley Opens Grand Rapids Trip With a Win Over East KentwoodBy Jim Mickiewicz January 10, 2025 Page 1 of 2.Grand Rapids, Michigan Foley United went into the third period of their game Friday night against East Kentwood with a 3 – 1 lead. Both teams wanted the win to kick start the second half of the season. Foley did not help itself with a penalty called late in the second period that carried into the third period. Thirty-four seconds in the third period, the puck was in Foley’s net on the power-play and it was a new hockey game. East Kentwood was down one goal, 3 – 2. Then it happened. With two-tenths of a second left in the third period, East Kentwood scored on a scramble in front of Foley’s net. It’s hard to blink in two-tenths of a second, but not to tie a hockey game at 3-all.It was onto sudden death over-time. Eight minutes of winner-take-all. Eight minutes of pure excitement. It was Foley’s first OT of the season. It took almost four minute

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyPort Huron Sweeps the Season Series from Foley UnitedBy Jim Mickiewicz January 4, 2025 Page 1 of 2.Port Hurron, Michigan A couple of things played into Port Huron Unified’s 8 – 1 win over Bishop Foley United Saturday afternoon at McMoran Arena in Port Huron.Let’s start with special teams play. Foley was unable to take advantage of their power plays. Foley had six of them and did not convert on any. In the third period, Foley gave up a short-handed goal while on the power play.Foley, on the other hand, had four minor penalties called on them in the game and Port Huron scored on three of them. Four of eight Port Huron goals were scored on special teams play. Foley had none.Foley Head Coach John Cynowa admitted that “Special teams wasn’t the greatest today. They scored on a couple of their power plays... They even scored one shortie on us today.”Both teams had one pair of off-setting penalties in the game. Another factor was the lop-sided benches. Port Huron had 20 player

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyFriday the 13th Was Not a Good Day for Foley United HockeyBy Jim Mickiewicz December 13, 2024Royal Oak, Michigan Page 1 of 1. Downriver Unified outshot, outgunned, and outscored Foley United to take the second game in the home-and-home series by a score of 5 – 1. The game was played Friday the 13th at Lindell Arena. It turned out to be a very unlucky day for Foley.“This team presented a unique challenge that we haven’t in into so far this year,” said John Cynowa, Foley Head Coach. “This team really locks down both blue lines. We’ve been able to skate the Puck in zone a decent amount this year against a lot of teams. Our issue was finding the support and finding the shots on goal from there.”The first period was scoreless despite Foley being outshot almost four to one in the period and the game. Both teams traded fruitless minor penalties in the period. Foley also was hit with a 10-minute misconduct. It was Foley’s first major penalty of the season. This type of penal

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyLumen Christi Dishes-Up Foley’s First Shut-Out LossBy Jim Mickiewicz December 9, 2024 Page 1 of 1.Royal Oak, Michigan Monday’s hockey game was unique. The Catholic High School League (CHSL) expanded this season for Division 2 Hockey. Two new teams were added: one from Toledo, Ohio, and one from Jackson, Lumen Christi. Bishop Foley United, in a blind draw, drew Lumen Christi for its first-round game.Lumen Christi, with 300 students, is smaller than Bishop Foley by itself. But it has one of the top ranked hockey teams in the state. It would be one of the toughest games for Foley this season, or any season.Foley tried hard, but could not match-up to Lumen Christi. Lumen Christi won the game, skating off with an 8 – 0 victory, ending the game 3 minutes and 20 seconds into the third period. It was Foley’s only shut-out loss this season. The game was played Monday evening at Lindell Arena.Foley Head Coach John Cynowa acknowledged Foley’s tough match-up. “We knew this was go

Boys Varsity Ice HockeyFoley United Comes Up Short Against Troy UnitedBy Jim Mickiewicz December 7, 2024Royal Oak, Michigan Page 1 of 2. Bishop Foley United got the first shot on goal. Troy United got the first goal. And enough goals to skate away with a comfortable 10 – 2 win over Foley. The game was played Saturday at Lindell Arena in Royal Oak. Troy sweeps the two-game series this season. From John Cynowa, Foley’s Head Coach’s perspective, “Today shouldn’t have been a mercy. There were definitely a few goals that shouldn’t have gone in today, and that we should have had, not from a goaltending perspective. Nate (Hewson in Foley’s net) played his a-- off today, but from a team perspective, I don’t think this team was eight goals better than us today. Not saying that we should have won that game. It was a tough game to play, but I definitely don’t think this team was eight goals better than us today.”Troy opened the scoring early in the first period on an unassisted, short-handed go
